‘Postcard Stories’ uses the idea of the postcard as a vehicle for exploring historic, geographic and cultural migration.

It involves collaborating with others and draws on the concept that art can be an instrument to create new spaces in which communications can happen. The work creates complex social and cultural situations through which ideas are shared and common ground found.

It includes collaborating with asylum seekers, addressing understanding of identity, movement and communications. It revisits the culture of the past through both those who were there and those who are wiling to be drawn in and imagine it. The artist is an instigator, creating places for communication, for people to build relationships and memories.

‘Postcard Stories’ explores situations that are beyond the usual art space, using art to break through time, culture and location.
