Tracing Postcard Routes

Creating lines of communication

Saturday 29th March 2008

Crossing historical, cultural, and geographic boundaries 100 postcards written and posted between 1902 and 2006, they were sent on journeys back to the places where they were originally sent to.

Those who received the postcards were encouraged to get in touch. Many did, with information and inquiries about their local area and in search of details about the postcard they had received.

These included staff and children at a boarding school who started researching the pupil who received the card in
the 1930s, and a 97 year old lady in a nursing home, who was subsequently tracked down by neighbours and friends.
